The definitive film look Lightroom preset for Nikon Z

I have been working on this film preset for the better part of a year, learning tons along the way, and finally reaching a point where I’m excited to share with the world.

As always, my presets are completely free. No one should be charging you money to move a few sliders. That said, I will gladly accept donations (link below) if you feel this preset is of value to you after you try it out.

This preset was created against years worth of images from many different Nikon Z cameras and in many different conditions. It is not meant to evoke any particular film stock, but instead to emulate all my favorite characteristics of film…chunky grain, those light blue skies, warm tones that just feel like a sunny day, and exceptionally smooth transitions between light and dark.

Notes on this preset:

  • It will default to Adobe Color and Auto White Balance. All photos in this gallery had their exposure values and white balances evaluated and changed if necessary. Usually Auto WB is sufficient outdoors, but tweak to your liking.

  • Grain level is to MY preference. Feel free to change this and overwrite the preset with YOUR prefered value.

  • I am not a fan of how it renders sunrise and sunset. This is an outdoor, sunny to partly cloudy day type of look.

  • Apply to RAW files. For development, I used RAW HE* files.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this preset, and I’d love to see your pics with it. Feel free to tag me on IG to show them off!
